I want to vent about Jan Brewer, the Wicked Witch of the South West, and her latest political faux pas, proposition SB 1062.
Proposition SB 1062 sounds like a food additive we’ve been given dire warnings about that can cause cancer in rats. Well, you’d be both right and wrong about that. No, it doesn’t cause cancer but it should certainly carry a public health warning.
SB 1062, as you may or may not know, is the totally bizarre legislation that Jan Brewer, long time Governor of Arizona, that perennially well known champion of human rights who we’ve come to know and love. Well, this delightful person may or possibly may not sign this bill into State law very soon. Suppose it may depend on how she’s feeling that morning. Let’s recap for the less informed what its all about. For a Christian Arizona business owner, if the proposition does get passed into State law, it will then be acceptable and allowable for the said owner to lawfully refuse service to gays. Because, after all, being gay is, according to some in the christian community, both wrong and sinful. And their money might be infected with the gay virus!
Yep, that caring humanitarian Jan Brewer and her cohorts in the State Legislative are all for hitching their mangy horses to the South’s anti-gay band wagon. Whats next Jan, if this gets approved? Hey – here’s a bright idea – how about some nice Pink Star accessories for some? As endorsed by the Nazi party in the last century! I do have to say that she has been quoted as saying that the Nazi and Hitler analogies hurt her feelings… especially as her father died fighting the Nazis. Oh no, wait.. he died in ’55 in America, from lung cancer, ten years after the war ended.
Ooops!
Yes, Jan’s political acumen runs the whole gamut of emotions from A to B! I mean who can forget her recent classic Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act that made it a crime for an immigrant to be in Arizona without carrying documentation? The law that made police officers check law abiding people’s immigration status. Innocent until proved to look Hispanic. Or how about her claims, to back up her political position, that law enforcement agencies had found decapitated bodies in the state… only later to say she ‘misspoke’ when it was discovered that she had basically been a little less than economical with the truth? There were, in fact, no bodies.
Ooops!
Well, its easy done, Jan… after all, what’s a few decapitated, non existent bodies between friends, eh? And far be it for me to mention the embarrassing fact that her administration hired Chuck Coughlin and Paul Senseman as respectively policy advisor and communications director to her campaign, and both, just by pure coincidence of course, were lobbyists for Corrections Corporation of America. CCA, who operates six private for profit prisons in Arizona. When the TV station KPHO aired this little matter to the American public, Jan’s re-election campaign retaliated by pulling all their campaign ads from the station.
Ooops!
I could go on and on about how much I and many others love Jan Brewer… but I think not. You get my point.
Jan Brewer YOU GRIND MY GEARS!!
